Wild Salmon Sashimi on Paleo Bread™
It’s been quite some time since I sat down and enjoyed sushi, as we all know the rice doesn’t exactly coincide with the Paleo/Primal lifestyle, and neither do some of the fried rolls and toppings! I have acquired a taste for sashimi ever since, and luckily I have been able to source some of the freshest fish around. With that said, I only recommend you attempt this recipe with sashimi-grade fish. Otherwise, this recipe is very simple, very tasty, and will be perfect as a personal meal or served at a party as well.
- 2 slices of Paleo Bread™ – Coconut or Almond, toasted
- 1/4 lb Wild Salmon (sashimi grade) – cut into 1″ x 3.5″ strips
- Olive oil
- 2 cloves garlic – minced
- 1/4 cup chopped red onion
- 1/2 avocado cut into strips
- Pickled ginger slices
- Canned coconut milk, or unsweetened shredded coconut
- Sea salt
- Black pepper
- Toast Paleo Bread of your choice mid-way to defrost
- Once defrosted, coat one side of each slice of Paleo Bread with olive oil, season with salt & pepper, continue to toast until desired.
- When fully toasted, slice Paleo Bread into thirds (you will have six total pieces) and smother minced garlic on strips of bread.
- Place some red onions on Paleo Bread, followed by wild salmon, slivers of avocado, pickled ginger slices, more red onion.
- Salt & Pepper to your liking.
- Drizzle coconut cream as a final touch, feel free to substitute with unsweetened shredded coconut and sprinkle accordingly.

I truly enjoyed coming up with this healthy recipe, it allowed me to get a little crunch with my sashimi but without anything fried and lacking the rice. If you really do want the rice, go ahead and try laying the fish down on some Miracle Rice, one of the only rice that is Paleo/Primal approved !! Not a fan of wild salmon? Then please try this with some other types of fish that you enjoy. But as previously stated – it is very important to get the highest quality fish around. If you cannot, then please try this dish with a cooked piece of fish to ensure your health and safety. And also, feel free to change the toppings. Avocado may not suit everyone, so be my guest and try thinly sliced cucumber or possibly a jalapeno!
