Primal Apple & Bacon on Paleo Bread Recipe

I love the quick and easy meals, as I’m sure most of you do as well.  Not all Paleo and Primal meals have to be intricate in order to be healthy and delicious!  This is Dan from Primal4Life bringing you Julian Bakery’s “Primal Apple & Bacon on Paleo Bread”.  I woke up still pretty full from dinner last night, I splurged and overate just a tad.  So this morning, I gave it some time, and when I was finally ready, I decided on a snack-like combination that I think some of you will enjoy.  It’s a Primal option, hence the crumbled goat cheese, but I think we can give you a few Paleo alternatives that just might appetize you as well!

Almond Paleo Bread starts things off in the toaster oven, and once they are just about fully toasted, I top them with some thin apple slices.  I’m hoping to warm them just a little bit, almost like a nice warm apple pie!  Except this time without the gluten!  Yes, Paleo Bread is not just gluten free, but has no grains at all, no soy or starch, and no GMO’s either!  Why do you think I recommend it to just about anyone looking to eat clean and lean out?  With five grams of fiber per slice, while being low in calories and containing only one net carb, I don’t think you have to be Paleo or Primal to truly appreciate what’s going on here!

Once those apple slices are somewhat warm and toasty, I add some crumbled goat cheese to the mix.  Now a few Paleo alternatives might be some Nutiva Coconut Manna, which is a nice, thick coconut cream that melts great, tastes great, and fills you up with lots of delicious MCT’s!  How about some MeeNut Butter?  It’s still low carb, containing a healthy quadruple combo of almonds, walnuts, pecans, and macadamia nuts.  Doesn’t that sound incredible?  It is!  Or maybe some other spreads might tempt you, like the You-Fresh-Naturals nut butters or Go-Lo Sugar Free Hazelnut Spread?  Lots of great options for this meal, kept Paleo

Ingredients:

  • 2 slices Paleo Bread
  • 4 thin slices red apple
  • 2 TBSP crumbled goat cheese
  • 1 slice nitrate-free organic bacon, chopped into small bits
  • 2 dashes of cinnamon

Directions:

1)      Toast Paleo Bread until about 90% toasted, then add apple slices and add back into toaster oven.

2)      Remove from oven, and carefully add goat cheese and bacon, add back in toaster oven for another few minutes (until goat cheese starts to melt).

3)      Carefully remove from oven, and give each slice a dash of cinnamon.

Cook Time:  9 min

Serves: 1

Now comes the fun part, adding your crumbled bacon!  Bacon certainly makes everything better and even this meal deserves some savory bacon!  Just make sure that you are using organic, nitrate-free bacon, ‘cause all of our ingredients need to be top notch, right?  We keep some bacon cooked up, bagged up, and ready for action, otherwise you’ll have to make it ahead of time.  Add these babies back into the toaster oven for just a few minutes, till you see that cheese melting.  Add a sprinkle of cinnamon when you remove these from the oven, sit down, relax, and enjoy.
