Paleo Turkey Burger Recipe On Paleo Bread
Burger time! Oh how I love burgers! When I first went Paleo, I thought, “how am a going to fully enjoy a hamburger without a bun? Then it’s just ground meat formed into a patty!” Well thankfully I have my Julian Bakery Paleo bread. I eat beef a lot when I make steak so I like to mix it up a bit and make turkey burgers. They can tend to be bland so I love to see what I can do to jazz up the burger and this time I added bacon bits! And for even more flavor, I cooked the turkey patties in the bacon grease which gives them such a succulent flavor you can barely help yourself from devouring the burger. The reason I love to cook the bacon bits right into the burger is because with all the toppings I put on burgers, the bacon tends to slide out of the burger so this way, it’s already in the patty. This burger is LOADED with protein at about 34 grams per patty and only 1 gram of carbohydrates (from the bread, wow that’s so low!) Load up your burger with avocado for a healthy and creamy condiment with nutrients like vitamins A, B-complex, C, E, H, K and folic acid. The many mineral benefits include magnesium, calcium, copper, potassium, iron and other trace minerals. An avocado provides all the essential amino acids plus seven fatty acids including omega-3 and 6 so slather it on and enjoy!
1 lb. ground turkey
4 slices of cooked bacon
¼ red onion, diced
1 garlic clove, finely chopped
1 large avocado
1 bunch of cilantro, chopped
1 tsp. cayenne
Julian Bakery Almond Paleo bread
- In a large pan, cook the bacon and set aside and chop up. Save the bacon grease!
- In a large bowl, combine the ground turkey, bacon, onion and garlic and mix together (I use my hands to mix it as it combines the ingredients really well as opposed to a spatula)
- Form the turkey into patties and place them in the pan you used to cook the bacon and cook until done throughout (maybe 5 minutes each side but it depends on how thick the patty is)
- Toast the bread
- Smash the avocado and add the cilantro to it and spread on the burger. Sprinkle the cayenne on top of the avocado and add any other toppings such as lettuce and tomato. Enjoy!
